On 16th July, 2007 the 5000-Forint silver coin and the memorial stamp made for the 125th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s birth were presented in the Kodály Institute. This is the 125th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s birth, the prominent figure of the Hungarian composition, folk song search, music pedagogy and history of civilization. On this occasion the town of Kecskemét will unveil a memorial of the great son of the town on the 17th of December, 2007. The exact place of the new Kodály memorial is still under consideration, but it seems to be sure that it is going to face the Kodály Institute. 46 girl-students of Kodály School, Kecskemét, along with Mária Dr. Nagyné Dréher, deputy manager, József Seres, accompanist, and László Durányik, chorus-master, took part in a two-week long concert tour around France and Great Britain in the second part of June. In the jubilee Kodály year, they wished to further strengthen their international cultural relations, and to heighten the great reputation of the school and its choir. |
